WILBERT HOLT GUILTY OF CRIMINAL THREATS AGAINST HIS MOTHER

On January 28, 2019, in the South Lake Tahoe Superior Court, Wilbert Christopher Holt pleaded guilty to Criminal Threats with a Deadly Weapon, in violation of Penal Code sections 422 and 12022(b)(1).

The charges arise from an incident on December 23, 2018 in which the highly intoxicated defendant threatened his mother with a knife.  Mr. Holt held a knife in his hand in the open position and told his mother he would "cut her."  He then warned her not to call the police.

The Honorable Suzanne Kingsbury sentenced the defendant to a "Johnson year" in custody, meaning he will not receive any "good time" credits and will serve a full 365 days in jail followed by a four year probation period. The Court made a special finding that the defendant suffers from both substance abuse and mental health issues, and would benefit from treatment as to both upon release from custody.

The case was investigated by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Lydia B. Stuart.
