"CRIMES THAT HAPPEN IN THE DARK EVENTUALLY COME TO LIGHT" - Jane Doe

On October 10, 2018, an El Dorado County jury convicted 39 year old Charles Lee Eckhardt of 8 felony counts of various sex acts on a minor under the age of 14.  Mr. Eckhardt admitted a prior felony domestic violence with great bodily injury strike prior.

This case first came to light in November of 2016 when 17 year old Jane Doe gathered the courage and strength to finally report to law enforcement that she had been molested back when she was 11 years old.  El Dorado County Sheriff's Office Sexual Assault Detective Prencipe and El Dorado County District Attorney Investigator Barber conducted further investigation that soon led to the arrest of Mr. Eckhardt.

The case was prosecuted by Special Victim's Unit Lead Deputy District Attorney Lisette Suder.  The Honorable James D. Garbolino presided over the jury trial.  Judgment and sentence is scheduled for November 24, 2018 where Mr. Eckhardt faces 44 years in state prison.
