On July 3, 2018, a South Lake Tahoe jury convicted Craig Joseph Cumbra of second degree robbery for an incident that took place on March 11, 2018, at a 7-Eleven.

On that date, Cumbra ran out of the 7-Eleven with merchandise he didn't pay for. While Cumbra entered into the passenger side of a parked vehicle, the cashier blocked the front of it. Suddenly, the vehicle moved forward in an attempt to flee the scene and the cashier was forced to jump on the hood to avoid being struck. During trial the cashier testified that Cumbra instructed the driver to "drive". Cumbra was ultimately identified and apprehended several hours later at a local hotel.

Sentencing is set for July 30, 2018. The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Casey Mandrell.
