Drunk Driver Convicted for Fourth Time in Five Years

Posted: July 03, 2018

Lisa Erin Lacayo, age 51, was convicted of felony driving under the Influence on July 2, 2018, in the El Dorado County Superior Court in South Lake Tahoe.

Lacayo was arrested on October 3, 2017, after she drove through a construction zone.  When stopped by South Lake Tahoe CHP, she appeared obviously intoxicated, and despite being on probation for a prior misdemeanor DUI conviction(s), she refused to cooperate with field sobriety testing.  A breath test determined her blood alcohol to be .23%, nearly three times the legal limit.

Lacayo was convicted of a felony because she has four prior misdemeanor DUI convictions.  The prior convictions are from incidents in 2013, 2014 and 2015.  Lacayo pled to all charges and threw herself on the mercy of the court.  In response, she was sentenced to 1 year in the county jail, placed on five years formal, felony probation, has had her driver's license suspended for three years, and was ordered to attend and complete a substance abuse counseling program while in jail.  Lacayo's sentence included custody time for violating the terms of her misdemeanor probation for her prior DUI conviction(s).
