South Lake Tahoe Man Sent to Prison for Domestic Violence

Posted: June 11, 2018

Shannon Patrick Johnson, age 33, of South Lake Tahoe was convicted of felony domestic violence and sentenced to 4 years in state prison.

On April 17, 2018, defendant was waiting outside his ex-wife's home so that he could confront her, despite being restrained from contacting her due to a 2017 domestic violence conviction.  When the ex-wife exited her home to go to work, he began yelling at her.  Hoping to calm him down, she got into his car to talk to him.  Defendant then drove off with her.  The victim yelled at him to stop, tried to get out of the car and tried to take the keys from the ignition.  Defendant grabbed the victim by the hair and by her arm, forcing her to stay inside the car and inflicting injury on her.  Eventually, the victim convinced defendant to drive her to work.  As she was getting out of the car, defendant took her cell phone, preventing her from immediately calling 911.  Once inside her workplace, however, the victim was able to call 911 and report the assault.

The case was investigated by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Casey Mandrell.
