On April 23, 2018, Shellie Renee Scott of South Lake Tahoe pled "no contest" to violating Penal Code section 136.1, Threatening a Witness, a felony "strike" offense.

The case arose from an incident between Ms. Scott and her girlfriend.  During a verbal argument, Ms. Scott physically attacked the victim, putting her arm across the victim's throat and choking her.  Ms. Scott also took the victim's cell phone from her and threatened her in an effort to prevent the victim from reporting the crime.  The victim was able to break free and escaped Ms. Scott's grip, fleeing the residence and calling 911.

Ms. Scott was sentenced to 90 days in the county jail, a year long domestic violence counseling program and is not allowed to possess weapons or alcohol.
