Hatchet Wielding Neighbor Sent To Prison

John Edward Finley, age 56, was convicted of felony assault with a deadly weapon, a "Strike" offense, and sentenced to 3 years in state prison. 

 

In September of 2017, Finley violently broke into a neighbor's house in Kelsey, CA and threatened the neighbor with a hatchet, striking a counter top in the victim's kitchen before chasing the victim from his home and throwing the hatchet at him as the victim entered his pickup truck in order to flee.  The victim escaped unhurt and was able to call 911.  El Dorado County Sheriff' Deputies responded and arrested defendant.

 

The case was prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Ashley Colivas and presided over by Judge Mark Ralphs.
