A CRIME SURVIVORS LIFE SENTENCE

As part of National Victims Crime Week, the El Dorado DA Office will be publishing daily posts designed to bring to light awareness for crime victims and crime survivors.  The post for today presents a Victim Impact Statement.

Long after the crime has faded from the headlines and the defendant has been sentenced, the impact to victims often still remains.  The life sentence of one such victim began when, at just sixteen years old, she was sexually assaulted.  Seventeen years later, at her attackers parole hearing, she read a statement opposing his release from prison.  Her raw, eloquent words are below.  Please be aware there are graphic details included in the statement.
