On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, after a one day trial, a jury found Norman John Craig guilty of Resisting a Peace Officer, a misdemeanor violation of CA Penal Code section 148(a)(1).

The charges arose from a 911 call from the defendant's residence in the Garden Valley area of El Dorado County.  The defendant's 90-year-old mother called 911 to report she had been abused by defendant.  Upon deputies' arrival at the home, defendant ran, attempting to escape the deputies. The defendant then refused to obey the deputies' repeated commands and then attempted to run to his vehicle in order to flee when he was tackled and detained.

The case was investigated by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.  Deputy District Attorney Megan Grow represented the People at trial, the Honorable Judge Proud presiding.  The defendant will be sentenced on April 20, 2018, and faces a maximum sentence of 364 days in the County Jail.
